KOREAN DRAMA RECOMMENDATION FOR 4th QUARTER 2016 ( AIRING OCTOBER - DECEMBER 2016)

Annyeong my fellow neighbors in dramaland! We meet again in the last part of quarterly review series for year 2016. In this series, I will always try to write an honest review from my point of view. You might agree to disagree. I hope my review will help you to decide which drama to put on your watchlist.

I will discuss on drama that airing within October to December. So, are you ready?

Since I'm quite busy last September until November, the only drama I managed to watch and finish watching is The K2. I did try to watch another few dramas but they just added to my abandoned list.

Btw, if you haven't read my previous review, you can read it here :  part I | part II | Part III

The K2

must watch korean drama 2016

  • Drama: The K2
  • Revised romanization: Deo Keitu
  • Hangul: 더 케이투
  • Director: Kwak Jung-Hwan
  • Writer: Jang Hyeok-Rin

  • Runtime: Fri & Sat 20:00
  • Language: Korean
  • Country: South Korea
  • Cast : Ji Chang Wook, Im Yoona , Song Yoona

zety says: This drama come out at a perfect timing when I feel kinda tired with the fantasy-time-travel-romance genre. Having an action drama is refreshing. I am satisfied with the acting from all the cast. Ji Chang Wook stunts were great even though its look a bit exaggerated, but he looks cool nonetheless. This drama is like 70% action and 30% the rest.

For a romance lover, don't worry, because romantic scenes in this drama will make you cringe under your blanket. Out of ten,I gave seven for the K2. (7/10)

  • Drama: Goblin (literal title)
  • Revised romanization: Sseulsseulhago Chalranhashin-Dokkaebi
  • Hangul: 쓸쓸하고 찬란하神-도깨비
  • Director: Lee Eung-Bok

  • Release Date: December 2, 2016 --

  • Cast : Gong Yoo, Lee Dong Wook

Goblin Dokkaebi (Gong Yoo) needs a human bride to end his immortal life. Meanwhile, the Angel of Death has amnesia. Somehow these two meet and live together. They see off those who have passed away and are now leaving this world.

zety says : OMG! OMG! I'm hooked after watching the first two episodes. I always love tvN drama. They never disappoint me with a great story line. At least for the first 2 episodes. Kekekeke. I have so many emotions while watching this pilot episodes! So far, I have no complain whatsoever . Everything is just perfect. The story line, the casts, the music, humors, editing .... I love it. I'm so excited waiting for the next episodes.

Gong Yoo + Lee Dong Wook? What's more to ask? This is such a great pair and I know I will have a hard.., I mean a reallllllly hard time to decide which OTP to roots for.

I hope Friday can come faster! But still have to wait until Saturday for new episode with subtitle! This is such a torture!!!

Must watch Korean Drama Goblin

I will definitely going to write another review entry for Goblin when this drama end.

The Legend Of The Blue Sea

korean drama recommendation
  • Drama: The Legend of The Blue Sea (literal title)
  • Revised romanization: Pooreun Badaui Junsul
  • Hangul: 푸른 바다의 전설
  • Director: Jin Hyeok
  • Writer: Park Ji-Eun
  • Network: SBS
  • Episodes: 20
  • Release Date: November 16, 2016 - January 19, 2017
  • Runtime: Wed. & Thu. 22:00
  • Language: Korean
  • Country: South Korea
  • Cast: Lee Min Ho, Jun Ji Hyun
Sometime during August, 1598, newly appointed governor Dam Ryung (Lee Min-Ho) stays for a night at an inn run by Mr. Yang (Sung Dong-Il). During that evening, Mr. Yang shows Dam Ryung a captured mermaid named Sim Chung (Gianna Jun). Later that night, Dam Ryung releases her into the ocean and, before she swims away, Sim Chung reaches out her hand to Dam Ryung which he briefly holds.

zety says: When I watched the first two episodes of this drama,  I know that Legend of The Blue Sea will be another DOTS. Another romantic drama that will melt noonas/ahjummas heart. Lol!

Already watching this drama to episode 6. What I like about this drama is the back story of Dam Ryung and how they connect with the present Joon Jae. Wait, why Lee Min Ho is so perfect here? Everything he wear makes him like a model at runaway fashion show! How can sandals and suit be so nice? Yuppp, I'm referring to the umbrella scene!!

Jeon Ji Hyun is goddess! Her character is hilarious. Somehow Sim Chung character makes me remembered of Kim So Hyun's Which Star Are You From?. So far, I like this drama. Their romance is sweet and nice. I hope they will not be as cheesy as DOTS.

So with this drama, has Korea concludes their universe? Lol! You know what I mean don't cha?
>> Wind, Rain, Star, Moon, Sun, Cloud, Sea, World .

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Jo

korean drama recommendation
  • Drama: Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo (literal title)
  • Revised romanization: Yeokdoyojung Kimbokjoo
  • Hangul: 역도요정 김복주
  • Director: Oh Hyun-Jong
  • Writer: Yang Hee-Seung
  • Network: MBC
  • Episodes: 16
  • Release Date: November 16, 2016 - January 5, 2017
  • Runtime: Wednesdays & Thursdays 22:00
  • Language: Korean
  • Country: South Korea
  • Cast: Lee Sung Kyung, Nam Joo Hyuk, Kyung Soo Jin, Lee Jae Yoon
Kim Bok-Joo (Lee Sung-Kyung) is a promising collegiate female weightlifter. Her father runs a small chicken restaurant and her uncle wants to become an actor. She has a bright personality and strong sense of justice. Kim Bok-Joo and her friends on the female weightlifting team are not popular with the guys and they don't have boyfriends. The weightlifting team and the rhythmic gymnastic team also don't get along at all.

Meanwhile, Jung Joon-Hyung (Nam Joo-Hyuk) is a collegiate swimmer plagued with numerous false start disqualifications. He is 21-years-old and has a free spirit. His uncle and aunt raised him along with his cousin Jung Jae-Yi (Lee Jae-Yoon).

zety says: kyaaaa! This drama is so cute! So sweet so fluffy! I feel happy watching this drama. School or teenage drama is always my favorite genre!

Nam Joo Hyuk is no doubt perfect as a swimmer! In his last drama, Who Are You : School 2015 he is also a swimmer. Lee Sung Kyung annoying-but-cute acting in Cheese In The Trap really makes me hope for a lead role and yes they grant my wish. I like the character of Kim Bok Joo. Energetic, bright, playful and innocent. Lee Sung Kyung play the role amazingly. I think PD-nim has cast the right actress. I cannot imagine other actress taking this role.

To be honest, I enjoy watching this drama more than Legend Of The Blue Sea. The script was mpore nicely written. They emphasized on the friendship, love of family, ambition and hope, love and struggles as a teenagers so well!

I loveeeee Kim Bok Joo either with Dr. Jung Jae or Joon Hyung. Romance in this drama is so sweet and innocent just like how first love supposed to be.

Must Watch High School Korean Drama

I highly recommend this drama and I think I have to update my Must Watch Teen Drama List. So far at episode 6, I give 9/10 for this drama! Palli watch it!

Upcoming Drama:

Drama series depicts various stories of real life cartoonist Jo Suk and the people around him including his older brother Jo Joon and his girlfriend/wife Ae-Bong.
